Making applications for cell-phone is becoming big business now. Whether it be creating applications for Apple’s touch-screen iPhone or Google’s new Android Operating System, developers the world over have tremendous opportunities to make money. Also, with the cell phone moving from just being a phone towards being an essential tool for modern day life, it represents a new territory for entrepreneurs to exploit.

Apple Store
The Apple Store is a an online portal which contains applications developed solely for the iPhone. There are nearly 800 applications now. These applications are developed by private developers. When iPhone owners buy them from the Apple Store, Apple just gets a 30% cut, while 70% goes to the developers. According to Steve Jobs, the sales of applications at the Apple Store have nearly reached $ 1 Million Per Day. The iPhone represents a cool opportunity for developers with its touch-screen interface, accelerometer, and OS X.

Banks the world over are working with small software companies and developers to develop mobile banking software. Mobile banking means that customers will be able to make transactions like transfer of funds, withdrawal, etc. with just a phone.
